Forget about achieving the top score on those nostalgic arcade games. One man in Orange County figured out how to turn his love for the Claw Machine into a pretty good investment.

Since 1997, Stan Bent of Mission Viejo spends 2-3 days a week grabbing a collected amount of 6,000 - 7,000 stuffed animals out of vending machines all over Orange County. He loves the game for the challenge, which makes sense when you discover he's a computer specialist and research analyst.

The great story behind this is that instead of keeping all of his winnings, he usually gives them away to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, a megachurch located between the cities of Costa Mesa and Santa Ana.

In the video above, you can see Bent in action as he describes the best way to get a winner on the machine:

  • Look for the one key prize that has locked the others into place, and jostle it
  • Drop the claw in front of the prize, then push it backwards
  • As you squeeze the claw, try dragging the prize toward the opening at the same time
