2 Officers Injured In South Philadelphia House Fire

PHILADELPHIA -

The Philadelphia Fire Department fought a fierce rowhome fire in South Philadelphia this evening on the 3200 block of Chaucer Street.

The fire was called in just before 6:30 p.m. Smoke could be seen from the blaze off I-95 and near the NovaCare complex where the Philadelphia Eagles practice.

Two Philadelphia Police officers are heroes tonight when they were injured rescuing an 89-year-old woman from the fire. They both suffered cuts to their arms and are said to be in stable condition at Methodist Hospital.

The woman was also transported to Methodist Hospital and is in good condition. The fire was placed under control just before 7:30 p.m.
