ATLANTA -

What's it like to have an electric car that never needs gas?  Well, it's National Plug-In Day, so Nissan wants to show you.  How?  Free gas.  Yes--- free.

The company says they're celebrating National Plug-In Day by focusing on gas-free living.  On Thursday, September 26, that means that from noon – 4 p.m., they're giving away free fill-ups at the BP location at 610 Spring Street in midtown Atlanta.  When drivers stop to participate, they'll be encouraged to calculate their potential yearly savings from going gas-free using an online tool (with a little help from a Nissan representative and an iPad).

The company will also host National Plug-In Day activities on Saturday, September 28 at Atlantic Station Central Park from noon to 5 p.m.  Drivers will be able to hear from Nissan executives and current LEAF owners about the benefits of driving electric vehicles.

Nissan says Atlanta has consistently been one of the top electric car markets in the U.S., and was also the top market in the country last month for Nissan LEAF sales.  The LEAF, of course, is Nissan's electric car.
