Memorial service set for slain Tuskegee student

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (AP) - A memorial service is planned for a Tuskegee University student who was gunned down at a block party over the weekend.

The school said in a statement that the service 21-year-old Bobby Smith is set for 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Tuskegee University Chapel.

Police are continuing to search for suspects in the killing of Smith, who was from the Atlanta suburb of Mableton, Ga. He was shot in the back and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Smith, a finance major who played for Tuskegee's tennis team, was the father of a baby who is less than a month old. He was a 2010 graduate of South Cobb High School.

Tuskegee University President Gilbert Rochon said a scholarship will be set up in Smith's name.
