Churches, Residences Hit By Copper Thefts in Doylestown

Posted: Updated:

The search is on in Doylestown for a thief stealing copper downspouts from churches and homes. Borough police say there have been 6 to 10 thefts in the past week and half.

Police say hundreds of dollars in downspouts were stolen from Doylestown Presbyterian Church.

Right down the street 1st Church of Christ Scientists was hit too.

Many of the thefts happened within close proximity to each other. At least  two happened on Oakland, right around the corner from Paine Street.

That's where homeowner Beth Snyder heard strange noises outside her home then raced outside.

She says she chased after a man who looked like he was carrying a pipe. She also noted being able to hear a whistling sound as the wind whipped through the hollow object while he ran.

Snyder says she didn't get a good look at the suspect.

If you have any information call Doylestown Borough Police.
