2 women, child stranded on I-75 after tire blowout

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -

Two women say they were stranded on Interstate 75 in the pouring rain with a flat tire on Sunday night.

Twin sisters Teresa Tosi and Lisa Richardson Waller were with Tosi's 3-year-old daughter, Emerson, when their tire blew out on I-75 northbound near Delk Road.

The sisters said they called for help from 911 and AAA motor club numerous times, but no one responded for more than an hour.

"As we're sitting there, sitting ducks, waiting to be helped and no one, not AAA, not the police, not the Georgia DOT -- no one would help us. We sat there over an hour waiting," Waller said.

Finally, officers arrived and changed the tire. The sisters said that AAA never arrived.

Cobb County police acknowledged that there was confusion over who should have responded to the call. It took 40 minutes before police arrived on the scene, authorities said.
