Heavy Rain Impacts Camden County

Posted: Updated:

The high winds caused some big problems for some people in Camden County.

The storm came in as fast as it rolled out, leaving behind a major mess outside Tim pack's house on Second Avenue.

"I was like oh my goodness that's my friends car and he's in working on my house," Pack said.

He is Tim McCarthy, and his 1994 gold Honda Accord meant a job. Now without a car, he's out of work.

"I'm destroyed," McCarthy said. "It broke my heart"

McCarthy is an unemployed carpenter picking up odd jobs to make ends meet. 3 weeks ago, down on his luck, a friend gave him the car to get around from job to job. The car is now completely destroyed.

"He gave it to me on the promise that I would help him around his house in an effort to pay him off. Now I still have to pay him off and I have no car," McCarthy said.

It just so happens, McCarthy's Honda was the only one parked on the block. The only one damage when two huge tree branches came crashing down during the brief afternoon storm.

He had no insurance which means McCarthy most likely won't be able to work.

"I'm also facing eviction at the place that I'm staying. I going to happen I'm going to be out on the streets it's going to make me homeless," McCarthy said.

McCarthy told us his car is a total loss, but he wasn't the only one having problems.

Governor Chris Christie had to cancel two scheduled events today because of hazardous travel conditions.

All of the roads that were closed earlier because of flooding have re-opened.
