The clergy in Camden is trying to stem the city's violence. Camden Churches Organized for People (CCOP) is trying to rally the community.
Church leaders were joined today in a call for peace by the parents of Jewel Manire, a teenager who was one of the two victims shot and killed in Fairview last year.
"I continue to look at her pictures back to birth & wonder how an individual can take the life of one of God's creations," said Manire's mother.
The clergy says that it's critical to create an environment in the city where people feel safe.
CCOP is a faith-based community organizing federation composed of more than 15 congregations working together to transform conditions for individuals and families in the city of Camden.
