Suspect in multiple beauty store burglaries arrested

Posted: Updated:
MARIETTA, Ga. -

Police have made an arrest in more than a dozen burglaries at beauty supply stores.

After a two-month long investigation, police arrested Joe Nathan Ford. They believe Ford is responsible for at least 16 burglaries at beauty supply stores across metro Atlanta.

Two of the stores were in Marietta. One of those stores, L.A. Beauty Supply, located on Sandtown Road, is still boarded up two months after being targeted by thieves. The burglars rammed a stolen vehicle through the front of the store and took tens of thousands of dollars' worth of hair products and high-dollar hair weaves.

Eric Hong's family owns the store. He said the theft has financially devastated the business.

Another store in Marietta, the Top 1 Beauty Supplies on Delk Road, was forced to close down after a similar burglary.

Authorities have charged Ford in those burglaries and numerous.

According to arrest warrants obtained by FOX 5, Ford was working with another man, Eddie Lee Howard III. The two were apparently part of a street gang known as Guacamole Gang.

"What they would do is they would steal a car from a jurisdiction, they would use that car to ram the front of the store. Once inside of the store, a group would jump out and grab and steel what they wanted to and, get back in the car and leave," said Officer David Baldwin of the Marietta Police Department. "This has happened at least 16 times this year alone and we believe this same group is tied to all 16 of those burglaries."

Ford is charged with burglary and being held without bond.

Authorities are still searching for Howard. They believe more people are involved in the burglaries.
