Ramsey Responds To Blind Man Beating

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A blind man was stomped and beaten and taken to the hospital. This happened last week. The surveillance footage was released yesterday. This morning, Police Chief Charles Ramsey spoke with FOX 29's Steve Keeley about the incident.

Chief Ramsey emphasized to Keeley that surveillance footage needs to be released sooner in the future.

"With social media, our job is not to figure out when you have the largest viewership. Our jobs just to get it out to the public," said Ramsey.

Ramsey also commented on the bystanders that didn't even move or do anything.

"That's becoming more and more common," he said. "People now just sit around. It's just a shame.

Fox 29 recently reported a police officer was attacked by a fare jumper in the Cecil B. Moore SEPTA station where not a single bystander called for help, but rather one took out her phone to film the attack.
