DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

Krystal Crittendon is showing her support for Sheriff Benny Napoleon and has endorsed him for Detroit's next mayor.

"I am asking all Detroiters who want to see crime reduced and their neighborhoods finally get the attention they deserve, and who want to ensure democracy lives in the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan to join me in electing Benny Napoleon as our next mayor of Detroit," Crittendon said Wednesday during the announcement.

The announcement was made in front of Heritage Townhouses at Piper Boulevard and E. Jefferson Avenue.

Crittendon is a former mayoral candidate, finishing third in the primary election, a long-time city of Detroit attorney and its previous corporation counsel.

Napoleon has asked Crittendon to become his deputy mayor if he is elected.
