Jewel to keep employees from 4 Dominick’s stores it’s purchasing

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Jewel-Osco says it will hire former Dominick's workers when it takes over four stores next year. That means 450 grocery workers will keep their jobs.

Dominick's parent company announced last week it is pulling out of the Chicago market altogether. Many of the 72 stores closing are expected to be taken over by other grocery chains.

Jewel is by far the largest chain in the Chicago market. They've agreed to buy two Dominick's stores in the city, plus stores in Glenview and Homer Glen.
