7 wounded in weekend violence

Seven people were shot throughout the city this weekend, including a man wounded during an argument about a cell phone early Sunday after a party in the Pullman neighborhood.

A 34-year-old man is in custody for allegedly shooting a man during an argument about a cell phone after a Pullman neighborhood party, police said. The men began arguing about the suspect's cell phone while on the porch of a home in the 11600 block of South Harvard Avenue about 1:30 a.m. Sunday after the party.

The suspect then pulled out a gun and shot a 30-year-old man multiple times, police said. The victim was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Charges are pending, police said.

The other shootings throughout the city include:

A 31-year-old man was shot about 5:15 a.m. Sunday in the 900 block of West 19th Street on the West Side when he "heard shots and felt pain," police said. He was shot in the leg and taken to University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago, where he was listed in "stable" condition, Greer said.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the arm about 4 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of North Ridgeway Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. The teenager was uncooperative with police.

A 14-year-old boy was standing on the sidewalk in the 2100 block of West 68th Place about 1:25 p.m. Saturday in the Englewood neighborhood when a gunman walked up and fired shots, police said. The teen was taken in good condition with a gunshot wound in the arm to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was treated and released.

A 25-year-old man was shot in the 2300 block of West Fullerton Avenue at 11:46 p.m. Friday in the Bucktown neighborhood, police said. He suffered six gunshot wounds and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition.

A 15-year-old girl was a passenger in the back seat of a vehicle in the 500 block of West 43rd Street in the Canaryville neighborhood about 11:15 p.m. Friday when she heard a shot and realized that she had been shot in the arm, police said. She was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in "stable" condition.

A 25-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk with other people in the 900 block of East 82nd Street in the Chatham neighborhood about 10:50 p.m. Friday when an unknown suspect rode up on a bicycle and opened fire, police said. The man suffered a graze wound to the chest and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition.

No one is in custody for the shootings as area detectives investigate.
