Michigan State Police confirm one man was killed in an accident on the John C. Lodge Freeway Tuesday afternoon. Another man was seriously injured.

The two men were driving south on the John C. Lodge Freeway (M-10) when some of the items being carrying in the bed of their pickup truck became dislodged. The men pulled onto the shoulder against the median wall and were securing their items when a vehicle driving in the far-left lane struck the truck and both men, police say.

A 21 year old was seriously injured and a 30-year-old man was killed. Police have not released the identities of the victims, but they do say the man that was killed was from Detroit and other driver is from Commerce Township.

The driver of the car who struck the pickup truck also suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital.

All lanes are reopen now on southbound M-10 near M-39 (Southfield Freeway). Investigators and medical examiners have cleared the scene.
