CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A 10-year-old boy was the victim of two child-luring attempts Sunday morning in the North Lawndale neighborhood, prompting police to issue a community alert.

The boy was walking his dog near Ogden and Drake avenues about 9 a.m. when a man in a red car told the boy to get inside, according to the alert issued by Area Central detectives. The car is described as a newer two-door model with chrome rims, and at least three males were inside.

The man who spoke to the boy is described as a black man in his 20s with short black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. He was wearing a gold earring, police said.

Later, another man called to the boy from a van and told him to get inside and he would give the boy some candy, police said. The van, a blue cargo van with the word "dish" on the side, had at least six males inside.

The man who spoke to the boy from the van is described as a bald white man between 20 and 30 years old with brown eyes and a fair complexion. He was wearing light brown shorts, a yellow sweater with a red shirt underneath, and red and white Michael Jordan gym shoes with a knife protruding from one shoe. One of the men in the back of the van was described as having red marks on his face, possibly a tattoo, police said.

The boy ran home and contacted police. Anyone with information should contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
