Reward grows in Ga. animal shelter break-in

MACON, Ga. (AP) - The reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a fatal dogfight at a middle Georgia animal shelter has grown to $13,000.

The Humane Society of the United States announced Tuesday that it would offer $5,000 for information leading to the person who broke into the shelter last week.

Macon police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet says the suspect let about 40 dogs out of their cages overnight and three were killed. Gaudet says investigators believe the dogs killed each other, and officials are unsure of the motive behind the break in.

The Telegraph of Macon ( ) reported that Macon Regional CrimeStoppers is also offering $8,000 for information on the suspect.

Gaudet says police are pursuing several leads in the case and are conducting interviews.
