Baby Found Dead at Recycling Plant

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE:

The newborn found at Victorville recycling facility is a girl. San Bernardino county Sheriff investigators have 24 hour hotline for tips on this: 760-956-5001

A horrible discovery, for an employee at the Victor Valley Material Recycling facility on Abbey Lane: a dead baby wrapped in a blanket, coming down the conveyor belt along with recyclables to be sorted.

One employee told Fox 11 she believed the tiny child was still covered in what looked like after birth.

San Bernardino County Sheriffs at the scene, confirm it is a baby, and ask anyone who may have seen a woman ready to give birth very recently, and suddenly is no longer pregnant and has no baby, to please give them a call. They are not releasing the sex of the infant, at this point.

The child could have come in along with the tons of recyclables that are brought here from all over the high desert, both residential and commercial. The facility is closed, as the investigation continues.

VICTORVILLE (FOX 11) - San Bernardino Sheriff's investigators are looking into the death of a baby girl found at a Victorville recycling plant.

Officials responded to the 17000 block of Abbey Lane in Victorville at 11:29a.m. today on a report of a baby's body found by workers at the plant. One employee told reporters the baby looked like a newborn.

It is still unknown how the baby arrived at the plant or what caused her death.

Authorities are asking the public for any information that may help in finding the baby's mother. The San Bernardino Sherrif's Department hotline is 760-956-5001.
