USC At Odds With The Best Way To Handle Drinking Problems

Los Angeles, CA -

About 200 students came to a town hall meeting with USC administrator Dr. Ainsley Carry to talk about the recent and dramatic uptick in the number of students sent to the hospital for excessive consumption of alcohol.

The media wasn't allowed in, but two student reps came out at the conclusion of the meeting to explain the purpose of the meeting. Yes, there is the concern about the well being of the students but there was also a sentiment that the university's fix didn't include enough student input.

Tweets from @DailyTrojan from inside the meeting also suggested that the fraternities maybe taking the brunt of the punishment even though it isn't a uniquely Greek problem.

One tweet quoted Carry as clarifying the rumor that fraternity row was not shut down.  @DanielRothberg, also inside the meeting tweeted that more transparency was needed, with more concern for the students and not for donors and perspective donors.
