Woman injured in Lincoln Park explosion

Posted: Updated:
LINCOLN PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

An explosion rocks a Lincoln Park neighborhood and sends one woman to the hospital. The blast happened around 10am Saturday on the 4000 block of Longtin. It listed the roof and moved the walls of the four-unit building.

The explosion was so powerful, it sent a woman flying through her apartment's picture window and into the parking lot. We're told the victim, in her 40's, suffered severe burns.

"I didn't think she was alive at first. It looked like she was dead because she wasn't moving," witness Katie Johnson told Fox 2. "She was all bloody and her skin was peeling. There were no flames, no fire, no anything. It was just a huge boom - an explosion."

No one else was hurt. But the building is so badly damaged residents can not return until repairs are made. Lincoln Park fire officials say it appears to be a natural gas explosion. DTE Energy is still investigating.
