A warning if you're hitting the beach this summer -- rip currents could be a problem. Rip currents can carry away even strong swimmers, so don't take chances when red flags are up and/or life guards aren't on duty. Rip currents are powerful, channeled currents of water flowing away from shore. They typically extend from the shoreline, through the surf zone, and past the line of breaking waves. Rip currents can occur at any beach with breaking waves, including the Great Lakes.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Forecasters say frigid temperatures are expected to sweep across New Jersey as a cold front moves through the region.

Light rain showers are expected to turn to snow inland while the coast should see a mix of rain and snow on Tuesday. It could change to all snow before the precipitation ends.

Forecasters say accumulations should be mainly a coating and limited to grassy areas and car tops.

Temperatures in the 50s are expected to drop into the 30s throughout the day with gusty northerly winds making it feel like it's in the 20s.
