    According to authorities with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, an 11 year-old boy was shot in the head in Queen Creek.Deputies responded to the home near Hunt Highway Bella Vista Tuesday evening.The boy was airlifted to a hospital, he was reported to be breathing.

PHOENIX (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union is asking a court to allow a 5-year-old Mesa boy to use a marijuana extract to treat his debilitating seizures.

The ACLU filed a motion for a preliminary injunction Wednesday in Maricopa County Superior Court.

The filing says Zander Welton "is likely to suffer irreparable injury if his parents cannot treat him with a marijuana extract without fear of criminal prosecution."

Under the state's current medical marijuana law, the county Attorney's Office considers extracts illegal.

Zander's parents say he had his first seizure when he was 9 months old. But his medical condition has improved after using marijuana extracts such as cannabis oil and his seizures have significantly decreased.

ACLU lawyers representing the boy and his parents are requesting an oral argument on the issue.
