"A family will find its way to you." That's a lyric in the song "faith in TRUTH" by Team WC. For thousands of kids from foster care across the country, it too is reality. We released the song and music video to help raise awareness for Saturday, November 23rd National Adoption Day. On that Friday before, L. A. County will celebrate.
FABULOUS FACT: In total, National Adoption Day helped nearly 44,500 children move from foster care to a forever family.
National Adoption Day is a celebration like non-other. Call it one big party, and invitation only! There will be little girls in party dresses. Boys in their finest. Proud parents. Excited grandparents. This is National Adoption Day where forces come together nationwide for mass adoptions. That means attorneys and judges turn out in force to finalize these adoptions. The concept came out of LA County. Among the sponsors, The Alliance For Children's Rights, which secured the legal community to donate the attorneys needed for this day of adoptions.
FABULOUS FACT: In 2012, more than 4,500 children were adopted by their forever families during the 13th annual National Adoption Day celebration in almost 400 cities across the United States.
Wednesday's Child and the Dave Thomas Foundation are a big part of the big day. Wednesday's Child showcases children in foster care waiting to be adopted with segments airing on Fox 11 news. This year, we will have one of our families finalizing. An artist in the song "faith in TRUTH" is a Wednesday's Child alum. Jamal was adopted when he was nine years old. Many of the scenes in the video are clips from past Wednesday's Child shoots. Jamal is a hip hop artist(Nexus) who returned to his Wednesday's Child roots to work with me on the song. R&B singer Lotis is on vocals. Team WC has performed the song at foster care benefits.
