A Midwestern storm packing strong winds and heavy rain knocked down trees and power lines across Michigan, leaving more than 450,000 homes and businesses without power.

The National Weather Service reports winds reached 70 mph in places with the storm, which hit Sunday and continued into early Monday.

DTE Energy Co. reports 245,000 customers without power, including 70,000 each in Wayne and Oakland counties. CMS Energy Corp.'s Consumers Energy unit reports more than 213,900 customers without service.

Trees, branches, power lines and light poles all were reported down. No injuries were reported.

In Mount Morris Township, near Flint, WEYI-TV reports high winds tore a rear wall off of a store. Mattawan High School in Van Buren County lost part of its roof, sending water into the gym and cafeteria.
