CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Dozens of businesses in Chesterfield Township lost power Monday afternoon after a lifted truck bed caught some power lines and pulled them down.

Eight utility poles with 14 thousand volt lines were brought to the ground, leaving an estimated 50 businesses along Gratiot Avenue between 23 Mile and 24 Mile roads without. Power could take multiple days to restore.

The truck had just finished dropping off a dumpster at a nearby business and did not lower his boom before pulling back onto Gratiot Avenue.

The driver of the truck stayed inside after the accident while the live power lines remained on top of the vehicle. He eventually jumped down to the ground with the help from rescue workers.

Nobody was hurt.
