(FOX 11) Oxnard Police got an anonymous tip that a 15 year old was being forced to prostitute herself in a home not far from the police station. Officers and child protective services workers went to check out the tip. A boy answered the door and said his mother wasn't home. The police entered and that's when they found an adult in a bedroom with a 15 year old female.
The man, Rolando Ramirez was arrested and child protective services took 10 children into protective custody. Another woman, Graciela Vasquez was also arrested at the scene but not charged. She is, however, on an immigration hold Matilde Garcia Nunez says she knows the woman, but not the man arrested. She also claims not to know the teenager. She broke down in tears speaking about her 8 children, now in foster homes in Los Angeles. Her children range in age from 16 to 7 months and she doesn't understand why they were taken. Two other children were in the house and taken into protective custody. They belong to a woman renting a room in the house and she regained custody when she agreed to leave the house. The arrest alone didn't prompt child protective services to remove the kids.
Detective Juanita Suarez says the living conditions were hazardous. Matilde rents beds to migrant workers. There are four bunk beds in the living room and Suarez said police found four men living in the garage. Maltide said she needs the boarders to pay the rent and clothe her children.
Ramirez will be in court Tuesday. Matilde has a court date Wednesday regarding her children.
"Yo no soy mala madre." I am not a bad mother she said more than once.
