How To Become A News Cameraman

Posted: Updated:

"I want to be a News cameraman ! How do I do that?  This must be the $100,000 question, especially from young people. Here's the big SECRET!  You are ALL News photographers.  With everyone having some sort of smart phone ( some smarter than others) you are all capable of being a News Cameraman, and some of you have been.  When you see something out of the ordinary happening, you take a picture or video and send it in to our website.  Consider yourself an amateur News photographer. Of course there's so much more involved in this craft.  It truly takes years and years of field experience to become a professional News photographer.  But I'm amazed at what I see coming in to our site.  You must be watching lots of News because based on what I see, there's lots of you who get the idea.  Technology has allowed for everyone to take pictures and videos to share with family and friends.  Through social media sites there are thousands and thousands of pictures being sent daily.  This is fantastic!

The photos on this gallery were taken on my phone. The truth is, I'm probably the only person that's seen these until I shared them with you. You must have tons of pictures on your phone. Right? Share them!  Practice.  Tomorrow I'll  give tips and tricks on how to become a News Cameraman/person.   You may be surprised at some of the suggestions. Here's a quick one,  "Be your Quarterback".  I'll explain tomorrow.  Sometimes you just have to look at what's in front of you…Until then.

Share! I did.
