There's a bathroom bandit in North Texas that's targeting those infrared devices found in public restrooms.
Various restaurants of the Texas chain, Taco Casa, have been targeted. Owners say that the bandit isn't just stealing the automatic infrared devices but also the fixtures that connect them to the wall.
"This little part alone is like a $750 repair, so it hurts us, and it adds up quick," said Jordan Johnson, a Taco Casa owner. "We've spent $5,000 just ordering these locks for these toilets."
The owners think the thief was caught on camera. They say police are looking into it. Until then, Taco Casa restaurants are putting locks on bathroom doors and giving keys to users so that they can keep track of who goes into the bathroom and prevent the thief from stealing more.
