PD: Shooting victim arrested, connected to 7 home burglaries

MARICOPA, Ariz. -

A shooting victim was arrested after police say they found over $10,000 worth of stolen property in his home.

Pinal County Sheriff's Office received a call Nov. 26 from someone saying they could hear an argument and a man yell, "kill him," before a gunshot went off.

Deputies went to a home in the 100 block of North Primrose, outside Maricopa, and found a mangled gate in the street and the back door pried open.

There was no one inside.

Shortly afterward, deputies found out 33-year-old Juan Carlos Garcia arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Deputies spoke with Garcia before he went into surgery and were told he saw a Hispanic man outside his home trying to steal his ATV.

The suspect allegedly shot Garcia and stole his truck.

Deputies say Garcia was taken to a hospital by his nephew, who lives next door.

The stolen truck was eventually found abandoned on the Ak-Chin Indian Reservation.

According to detectives, Garcia isn't allowed to own a gun and has been deported numerous times from the United States back to Mexico.

Inside Garcia's home, deputies seized guns, stolen electronics, marijuana, meth and documents supporting identity theft and money laundering.

Over $10,000 worth of stolen property was traced back to seven home burglaries in Hidden Valley, deputies say.

Garcia was released from the hospital and arrested on Friday on charges of misconduct involving weapons.

PCSO Property Crimes Unit will be requesting additional charges for the other crimes as the investigation continues.

Deputies are still searching for the suspect who shot Garcia and why they did it.

If you have any information, you're asked to call PCSO at 520-866-5111.
