Friday's 5.1 earthquake has a lot of people talking and thinking quake protection. Officials have examined Fanning Elementary School in Brea and that school will remained closed for the next few days pending safety checks and repairs. Carbon Canyon Road between Olinda Drive and Ruby Street is open to residents only as clean up continues. That's where a driver was hurt Friday when his BMW overturned while he was trying to avoid a rockslide. And U.S.G.S. officials are answering our questions on what would happen if a bigger, 7-plus quake, were to hit that same fault which run from La Habra into densely populated Los Angeles and Hollywood areas. All this is keeping earthquake rock star Dr. Lucy Jones in front of news camera... she's even joined the twitter world @DrLucyJones to answer all of your quake related questions.
Rain is on the way, overnight and into Tuesday. And that is raising concerns for the residents in the Colby Fire area in Glendale, as well as the burn zone in Azusa. The City of Glendora has declared a "Yellow Alert"... K-rails protecting residential areas and sandbags are available. The quake shifted the earth and the rain will soften it... and officials will be watching the vulnerable areas.

Cesar Chavez Birthday: Los Angeles
Today would have been Civil Rights Activist Cesar Chavez's 87th birthday. It's a state holiday for folks here in California. The L.A. City Hall is closed. Superior Courts are closed. But it's not a federal holiday, so mail service goes on and many schools are open. Chavez, along with Dolores Huerta, co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, now known as the United Farm Worker's union.
