'12 Monkeys' TV pilot being shot in Detroit area

Posted: Updated:

DETROIT (AP) -- The Michigan Film Office says the pilot for a TV adaptation of the movie "12 Monkeys" is being shot in the Detroit area and has been approved for a film incentive from the state.

The pilot for a Syfy Television Network series was approved for an incentive of $1.5 million on $5.3 million of projected in-state expenditures. It focuses on a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day to find and destroy the source of a deadly plague that eventually will decimate the human race.

The 1995 feature film version starred Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt and was directed by Terry Gilliam.
