POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - A Hudson Valley teen faces manslaughter charges for a car crash that killed two of his friends.

Dustin Hale, 17, was indicted by a grand jury on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, first-degree vehicular manslaughter and two counts of second-degree manslaughter. Local media report that the Pine Plains resident was arraigned Thursday in Dutchess County Court.

Police say Hale was driving his car recklessly while impaired when he crashed off a rural road in Pine Plains and slammed into trees on the afternoon of Aug. 29. Killed in the crash were 16-year-old Zachary Pruner of Stanfordville and 17-year-old Gian Paolo Stagnaro of Pine Plains. Hale and a 16-year-old boy were injured.

Hale entered a plea of not guilty to all counts.

Hale's family and his lawyer declined comment.

President Barack Obama is going on a fundraising sweep through New York and Rhode Island as he continues to help Democrats raise money for November's elections. Obama headlines three events on Friday. Two in Westchester County, and the third is in Newport, Rhode Island. The New York fundraisers will benefit the Democratic National Committee, which is still paying off debt from the 2012 campaign season.
