Tech Check: Put a case on it

ATLANTA -

How do you protect your new tablet? You got a new tablet this Christmas, but for those who are worried about how to protect it, we found a simple solution.

It's called iBallz. Yeah, it has a funny name, but it works.

FOX 5's Doug Evans met up with the doctors at iHospital, experts in fixing iPads. The helped demonstrate the effectiveness of the iBallz.

Click on video above for that demonstration.

The device attaches firmly to the corners and if it ever dropped, it bounces, but doesn't break.

The iBallz system is prices around $24 and might be a near-perfect solution to any family that has children using a family tablet. They are universal, so they will fit nearly any tablet.

The experts at iHospital says any case is better than no case at all. And consumers have so many to choose from names such as OtterBox, LifeProof, Speck and Case-Mate.

Most cases provide shock resistance to your device and there are a few that offer waterproofing as well. LifeProof is one of them.

OtterBox now offers a hinge system so you can get your device out quickly and easily, but beware, the doctors at the iHopsital warn that the vast majority of broken devices come from people who took it out of the case for just a little bit.

If you're giving or getting a device for Christmas, the best advice is to get some type of case on it right away.
