The Promotion Connection: New Year, New Shows

Posted: Updated:

It's that time of year again. Your crazy Aunt and Uncle are finally leaving after a long holiday visit. Your life finally seems like it's going back to normal. As the ball drops in Times Square, we all swear next year will be better, and that everything will change. But surely, some of us will make the exact same resolutions we couldn't see through last year. (I'm forcing myself to go to the gym every day, I swear.)

But with the holiday season ending, and a new year beginning, I can't help but wonder what's next. What does the future hold? What events will amaze you? What shows will inspire you? And what can we get excited about right now? Characters and events on television make us so much of everyday pop culture. Last year, you were a Martian if you hadn't seen THE WALKING DEAD or BREAKING BAD. So what's going to set the bar for all shows in 2014?

For Fox 11, big things are coming, and they are coming quick. The new year brings new shows, new contests, new premieres, and returns of some of your all-time favorites. It's rather cliché, but surprises are packed into every corner of the network's schedule.

2014 kicks off with a bang when the Super Bowl airs on FOX! America's top two teams will settle the score in wintry New Jersey on January 28th. I'm always pumped when the big game finally comes around. It's the one day out the year where it's acceptable for coworkers and friends to fight over which mediocre team is better, and who can devour the most chicken wings and nacho cheese. Count me in!

Plus, AMERICAN IDOL, TV's #1 biggest hit series, returns bigger than ever on January 15th. It's Season 13, and the search for a superstar is on.  Jennifer Lopez returns to the judging panel, as contestants belt their hearts out in hopes to skyrocket to fame. Who will rise to top, and whose dreams will fall short? America's hearts are on the line, and Ryan Seacrest returns to lead you through the amazing journey.

Then, a new military-themed family comedy, ENLISTED, premieres January 10th. A soldier gets shipped back stateside after he gets in trouble overseas. His new assignment – leading a platoon of misfits that include his two younger brothers! Between searching for lost dogs, mowing lawns, and sorting mail, the show is filled with laughs, pranks, and emotional moments that show these siblings the true meaning of brotherhood.

Personally, MASTERCHEF is the show I'm most excited about. Gung-ho chef Gordon Ramsey is back in the kitchen, heating things up for season four! Home cooks go head to head, with the last one standing becoming a culinary master! There's something about fast-paced cooking shows that keep me on the edge of my seat for the whole episode!

Also, what if all the serial killers in the world had a way to secretly talk with each other? Crazy right? That's the basic premise of FOX's THE FOLLOWING. It's a dark and intense drama that continues to win over audiences! Just talking about it right now has my adrenaline pumping! This investigative series is really going to keep your mind always thinking!

And this is only covers the first few weeks of the year! There's so much more coming up in the following months, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
