92-Year-Old Car Salesman Loves His Job

Posted: Updated:
GRAND VIEW, Wa. -

One Washington car salesman is proving you are never too old to work. Lloyd Ness has been selling cars since he was a teenager and continues to do so at the age of 92.

"I started out in 1950 in the dealership in Grand View, Washington," Ness recalled. After all these years, Lloyd has impressed manager after manager.

"We had a shortage of personnel and we needed somebody, and I said, ‘you know what, we're short people this week and let me call Lloyd and see what he's up to,' and he had so much energy, more than some of these younger people," said current Sales Manager Guy Mitchell. "He used to jog up and down here … he's got the energy."

"I was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, January 2nd, 1921, so a couple more days I'll be 93," Ness said. "I started out when I was 15 years old at Roosevelt High School. I had to buy a car and sell it to somebody else. I parked the car I was buying a block from any dad's house. He thought I was taking the bus. I was actually going down and getting in another old car and driving it until I found another buyer."

Why would does the dealership love him so much?

"I know they know I'm no flake," Ness said.

Lloyd works every Saturday and says he has no plans to slow down. He loves the excitement and joy that interacting with customers and doing something brings to his body. He goes to sleep every night looking forward to tomorrow.
