Police say a teenager was fatally shot outside the Brookside Community Center in Newark while a party was going on.
New Castle County Police say they were called to the 900 block of Marrows Road for a report of a shooting around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
Police say a 16-year-old victim was taken to a hospital where he died. Police identified him as DAndr'e Green of New Castle. He resides in the Swanwyck community.
Police say the community center was hosting a party for high school students at the time of the incident. More than 100 people were at the party. Assisting officers, a canine team, neighboring agencies, and Trooper 4 responded to the scene and assisted with crowd control while others conducted a canvass of the area and neighboring communities in an attempt to locate the suspect(s), but were unsuccessful in their efforts.
