CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

One man was killed and another man was injured in shootings just two minutes apart — at 8:18 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. Tuesday — in the 7100 block of Vincennes Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood.

An unknown offender approached 26-year-old Vincent Rogers on foot and opened fire after a verbal altercation, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Rogers, of the 7100 block of North Damen Avenue, was dead at the scene, authorities said.

In the second shooting, a 23-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the hip. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, but his condition was not immediately known.

Police said it was unclear whether the two shootings were related.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
