Good Day Hosts Green And White Party To Honor Eagles

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The love for the Eagles was firmly displayed in the Good Day studio today, as FOX 29 had a Green and White Party on Good Day Philadelphia.

It was our own Mike Jerrick who declared today a green and white party day: green for Eagles, white for snow. It was our way of celebrating the Eagles while getting all our viewers through this snowstorm.

We love all our viewers for once again being great sports and participating and sending in so many great pictures.

You can see them all here:

For our Green and White Party, Mike asked all our reporters and anchors to wear either green or white. He also asked the viewers to play along by sending in pictures of the snow and pictures in their Eagles green.

However, Mike realized very late last night that he didn't have his own Eagles green, so he braved the storm and went out to Macy's and bought a green sweater. The sweater and its last minute purchase showed that you should never put things off until late. Mike accidentally picked a shade of green that was anything but Eagles green. Mike's sweater became fodder for the entire show this morning.

Sheinelle Jones started a Twitter campaign to "Keep or Dump" the sweater.

The results were about 50/50.

Our Newsroom got tons of phone calls. Again, viewers took both sides of the debate, some asking Mike to dump the sweater and many others telling him to keep it.

Because of the snow, we had many experts on the show this morning (ie: Airport spokesperson, Official from SEPTA) in addition to the Mayor of Philadelphia. All of them joined in the fun and made fun of Mike's sweater.

Mike didn't seem to mind and even had some fun with it. It turns out that his sweater was exactly the color of the green screen, so he checked out what it would be like in front of the weather green screen. Watch the video above for that hilarious experiment.

In addition to all this, Mike also made good on a bet with reporter Steve Keeley. He promised Steve a while back that during the next snow storm he would have part of his body painted on the air. Mike made true on his promise today.

In honor of the Eagles game tomorrow, Mike painted his face Eagles green. And it looked much better than the sweater, at least according to some FOX 29 staff.

We hope today's Green and White party brings the Eagles good luck Saturday night.

Go Eagles!
