Saints Fan Rocky Run Canceled After Protest

Posted: Updated:

What started out as an attempt by one reporter to build some camaraderie among Saints fans watching the Eagles vs Saints game in Philadelphia has apparently been canceled. reports that Michael DeMocker, a staff photographer for the New Orleans Times-Picayune and, canceled his event because of threats from Philadelphia Eagles fans.

Originally, DeMocker proposed that Saints fans run up the steps to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and hold up their hands in triumph like Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa did in the first "Rocky" movie. This classic scene has been replicated countless times by movie buffs and tourists alike.

However, it appears that Eagles fans did not like gesture. Many tweeted back saying that there will be a confrontation.

One person tweeted, "That is gonna be ugly #Snowballs…"

Another wrote, "We will be waiting in our black and green at the top for you."

DeMocker canceled the event and admitted on twitter that it was a back idea. In his column he wrote:

"We still love the chilly, inspirational run up the famous ‘Rocky' steps."
