Is today the most depressing day of the year?

Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Feeling down? A little blue? You're not alone. January 6 is now known as the most depressing day of the year. Recent social media studies found a majority of people are feeling down today, as analyzed through twitter and Facebook.

Why so down? Nava Silton, a psychology professor at Marymount Manhattan College, explains that it's because people are getting back to work after the holidays and the weather doesn't help either. Also, a lot of people are sick. I got a pretty nasty cold myself.

And all the dead Christmas trees are depressing for some. It certainly made me a bit sad. And if I wasn't bummed enough, right in the middle of my interview, my dog Oslo walked by with his walker. I think he ignored me. But then it was all hugs and kisses. That made me feel better.

And here's a couple ways to make yourself feel better.

"Think of all the wonderful things to celebrate, write down three positive things that happened at work," Silton said.
