25 States Including Pa. Report Widespread Cases Of The Flu

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Several people in Philadelphia have died following a flu outbreak, and city officials say that the number of infections is on the rise.

25 states including Pennsylvania are now reporting widespread cases of the flu, and health officials say that this particular influenza is hitting younger people the hardest, and is responsible for 6 deaths in Pennsylvania, three in right here in Philadelphia.

Of course besides the very young, the elderly and people with chronic illness are most likely to succumb to the flu. That's why our Dr. Mike says it so important to get a flu shot. He says that even though flu shots are not 100% effective, it is still the best defense, especially with such an uptick in the number of flu cases in the last several weeks.

January and February are dangerous months, so that's why it is so important to wash your hands often to keep those germs from spreading and take all kinds of precautions like getting enough rest, eating right, staying hydrated and staying home if you are sick.
