CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The snow and bitter cold made it tough for all of us to get around, and the post office was not immune.

For some people there has been no mail delivery since Saturday, and they say the weather excuse doesn't cut it any longer

It's been three days since the snow and bitter cold shut down much of Chicago, and a broken down mail delivery truck might be the only excuse some people would tolerate at this point.

In the 4700 block of North Damen, the frustration is growing, as Saturday was the last day they got delivery.

"I called this afternoon and was still given the weather excuse, of course you know the streets have been cleared for three days so I don't buy that anymore," Ryan Bahrke, a frustrated resident, said.

And he's not the only one.

Mail delivery has been disrupted in neighborhoods across the city according to the post office because of weather, roads and because some employees couldn't get in to work themselves.

"We haven't been able to get out to all of our locations every single day to deliver all of the mail simply because it snowed a lot and it's been really cold," U.S. Postal Service spokesman, Mark Reynolds, said.

With many side streets still unplowed, and sidewalks still snow-packed, it's still a challenge for mail carriers.

"It's hard to walk in there but we try to do our best," mail carrier Hugo Cabrera said.

In Wrigleyville mail was delivered on the worst day, Monday, but not the past two days. People seemed to understand.

Aaron Gonzalez, Wrigleyville Resident

"If I have trouble walking this crazy dog out in the snow, I'm sure they're having trouble too," Wrigleyville resident Aaron Gonzalez said.

Gonzalo Oliete, another resident, said," Did it frustrate you not getting mail? No not at all, I completely understand, like CPS was closed, a lot of stores were closed, it was impossible to go through, especially right here on the corner, it was pretty had to drive over here."

The Post Office is apologizing.

"I can assure you in most cases we've been able to get all of our routes delivered today so by today, Friday, Saturday at the absolute latest mail delivery should be back on track," Reynolds said.
