It's the year of the horse according to the Chinese zodiac, but the bird is the word at Chinese restaurants across the country including here in Los Angeles. That's because Peking duck–that crunchy, crispy, crackly creation originally from Beijing–has become a star attraction on menus. I admit I've never eaten duck and have no plans to ever do such a thing (too much love for Daffy and Donald, I suppose), but that doesn't mean you might not want to indulge in this fowl creation. Read on for some of the best places to quack up your tastebuds just in time for National Peking Duck Day on Saturday, January 18.

Chi Lin – West Hollywood
The gorgeous new Chi Lin restaurant on Sunset Boulevard is all about modern Chinese cuisine without borders. Executive Chef and "Iron Chef America" alum Tyson Wong serves his signature 8-hour slow-cooked, lacquered roast Peking duck tableside alongside Porbien crepes, plum sauce, cucumbers and scallions.

WP24 - Downtown LA
Along with the stunning views from Wolfgang Puck's restaurant on the 24th floor of The Ritz-Carlton, guests at WP24 can get whole roasted duckling "Peking Style" with a basket of bao buns, traditional condiments and garnishes. Reservations a must.

Hakkasan – Beverly Hills & Las Vegas
Never mind the duck lipped ladies dressed to the nines. This sceney hotbed of modern Cantonese cuisine is where to get Peking duck served with Tsar Nicoulai caviar, pancakes, cucumber and scallions.

Officials say a 16-year-old boy is "lucky to be alive" and unharmed after flying from California to Hawaii stowed away in a plane's wheel well, surviving cold temperatures at 38,000 feet and a lack of oxygen. "Doesn't even remember the flight," FBI spokesman Tom Simon in Honolulu told The Associated Press on Sunday night. "It's amazing he survived that."
