Northridge, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) A hit-and-run motorist was being sought following a two-vehicle collision that killed a young man in Northridge today.

The crash occurred about 12:25 a.m. at Parthenia Street and Balboa Boulevard, said Los Angeles police Officer Wendy Reyes of the Media Relations Section.

The suspect was driving a truck west on Parthenia Street when it collided with a vehicle that was southbound on Balboa Boulevard, Reyes said.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, died at a hospital, Reyes said. His name was not immediately released.

Officers recovered the truck, but the suspect remained at large, Reyes said.

From Gina Silva:

Robert Ramage was just about a mile away from his home when he was struck and killed in a car crash in Northridge.

His sister told us Ramage was a 24-year-old veterinary student. He had just left work and was on his way home when he was involved in a deadly accident.  Since the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene, police say this case is now a felony hit and run.  The deadly crash happened at 12:45 this morning.  The vehicles collided at the intersection of Balboa Blvd and Parthenia Street in Northridge.  Witnesses say the victim was in a sedan traveling southbound on Balboa Boulevard.  The driver of a pickup truck was traveling westbound on Parthenia Street when he struck Ramage on the driver's side door.

Witnesses told police the driver of the pickup truck and two male passengers took off running and left the truck in the middle of the road.  We spoke with the victim's sister this morning.  She went on camera to urge the driver who struck and killed her brother, to do the right thing and turn himself in.

If you know anything about this fatal hit and run, contact the LAPD.
