Good Day Cafe: Soundbite Blackened Chicken Wings

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM - TV news anchor and chef Julian Phillips has partnered with Ayhan Hassan of Ayhan's Mediterranean Marketplace & Cafe in Port Washington. Phillips prepared one of the restaurant's signature dishes, 'Soundbite Blackened Chicken Wings,' in the Good Day Cafe.

Original "Sound Bite" Blackened Wings Recipe:

10 lbs. wings (drumettes & wingettes)

3 Tablespoons Paprika

1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder

1 Spoon Salt

1 Spoon Course Ground Pepper

1 Quarter Spoon Dried Oregano

For extra spicy wings add:

1 Quarter Spoon Cayene Pepper.

2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

NOTE: You can go to local supermarket and buy Cajun or Blackened seasoning mix to make it easy!

DIRECTIONS:

Clean wings and pat dry.

Combine seasonings and mix in with wings in a bowl.

Marinating overnight will give wings extra flavor!

Heat cast iron skillet until HOT

Add Olive Oil

Add wings and cook 3-5 minutes on each side.

To insure wings are thoroughly cooked, place in oven at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes and you're ready to serve!

NOTE: The blackening process creates a lot od smoke, so unless you have a powerful fan--it's best to cook outside.
