Inkster police: Missing teens reunited with family

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Two teenage cousins who vanished outside a home in Inkster have been found. Sources say 13-year-old Jakaya Babbitt and 14-year-old Kamariya Koger were dropped off overnight at the Inkster police department.

They disappeared Sunday afternoon when they were shoveling snow.

Police would not say what happened to the girls, but we're told they are doing fine and have reunited with their families.

See Taryn Asher's original story below:

INKSTER, Mich. (WJBK) -- Inkster police say are asking the public's assistance in seeking two teenaged cousins, Jakiyah, 13, and Kamariya, 14.

The girls were shoveling snow in front of one of the cousin's homes in Inkster on Williams Street Sunday afternoon. Jakiyah's dad went to check on them and they were gone.

No one has seen or heard from them since.

"No Kick, no Instagram, no Facebook, no instant messengers, nothing. It's like it's no trace of her," says Tanette Stewart, Kamariya's mother.

Kamariya is the mother of an 8-month-old son who was inside at the time she disappeared.

The parents filed a missing person's report with Inkster police, who say they are willing to investigate any tips but don't have the resources to search the streets for the girls.

"I'm a concerned parent, I'll do it myself. I'll knocked on every door in Inkster until I get done. Move to Taylor, to Garden City, back to Detroit to the west side to the east," Stewart says.
