Death penalty sought in Emani Moss case

Posted: Updated:
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

The Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office has confirmed that they plan on seeking the death penalty against the parents of 10-year-old Emani Moss.

Moss' stepmother, Tiffany Moss, and her biological father, Eman Moss, are allegedly responsible for killing Emani and stuffing her body in a trash can in November.

Police say the girl's father called 911 and told them his daughter had drunk some sort of chemical and was dead.

Police believe Emani may have been dead several days before her body was found. Eman Moss told police that he did not feed the child in seven days and never called for help.

"It's not something that happens overnight. It's not something that happens over a few days," Gwinnett County Deputy Chief District Attorney Lisa Jones.

Emani Moss' body weighed just 32 pounds at the time of her death.

Eman and Tiffany Moss have been charged with murder, cruelty to children and concealing the death of another.
