Conditions right for 'Fire & Ice' Festival in Rochester

Posted: Updated:
ROCHESTER, Mich. (WJBK) -

While many of us have been complaining about the never-end snow and bitter cold, organizers of the Fire & Ice Festival in downtown Rochester couldn't be happier! Last year, 40,000 people attended the 3-day event which is now underway.

The 7th annual Fire & Ice Festival runs through Sunday, Jan. 26. Crews have been trucking in piles of snow for weeks to make a sledding hill. Others have been busy clearing the ice rink and shoveling and salting sidewalks. Don't let the cold scare you! There are plenty of places to warm up. Two years ago, the festival had to be canceled because it was too warm and there was no snow. This year, it's a much different story.
