Ditka says outdoor Super Bowl is stupid: Detroit Free Press

Posted: Updated:

Former Chicago Bear's Coach Mike Ditka is weighing in on the NFL's decision to host the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium, the Detroit Free Press reports, and he says it's stupid.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Ditka said, "The weather's going to be a problem. They made a big mistake. The game shouldn't be there. I mean, it's stupid."

Forecasts for game day say temperatures will be around 30 degrees with a mix of snow and rain, according to the Free Press.

However, Ditka said that it wasn't fair to the players or the fans to play in those conditions because it wouldn't be enjoyable for either, the Free Press wrote.

But the Free Press said Ditka's biggest concern with the game being played in the cold is that players won't be able to perform at their full potential.

From stars Aaron Rodgers, Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson to up-and-comers Cordarrelle Patterson, Alshon Jeffrey and Eddie Lacy, with standouts like Reggie Bush, Brandon Marshall and Randall Cobb somewhere in between, the NFC North could probably field a Pro Bowl offense all by itself.

All James Carpenter wanted was to be able to run. That seems an odd wish coming from a 6-foot-5, 321-pound offensive lineman.
