FOX 32 examines Chicago`s violence one year after Hadiya Pendleton

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

It's been exactly one year since the shooting death of Hadiya Pendleton.

One week before the shooting, Pendleton was part of President Obama's Inauguration celebration.

Her murder put a national spotlight on Chicago violence.

Camiella Williams spent many days before then, and every day since, working to stop the violence.

Williams is an advocate for Chicago youth anti-violence programs.

She works in special education and is studying criminology in college.

Violence is more than academia to Williams.

Two months before the death of Hadiya Pendleton, her own cousin, 15-year-old Porshe Foster, was gunned down.

Like Pendleton police said she was an innocent victim

Williams says she has now known a total of 22 people killed by violence in Chicago.

Williams spoke to FOX 32 about Chicago violence and the effect of the attention Pendleton's murder had on Chicago.
