Dangers remain on icy roads

Posted: Updated:
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -

While more drivers are on the road, authorities say we're not in the clear yet. More freezing temperatures overnight Thursday could mean more ice dangers on the road.

Warmed temperatures and sunshine thawed out many roads on Thursday. But appearances can be deceiving: lower temperatures are re-freezing that water.

Georgia Department of Transportation officials say that dozens of trucks will be on the road treating the roads overnight.

Douglas, Fulton and DeKalb county officials warned drivers to stay off the road if possible.

Salt and sand trucks will work through the night to make the roads safe for morning drivers.

Fulton County officials are still warning drivers to stay off of Camp Creek Parkway and Cascade Road on Friday morning due to ice concerns.

Officials are asking anyone who sees slick spots or black ice to report them to public works.
